What Goes Into a Tesla Wall Connector Installation in San Diego?

A Tesla Wall Connector is the fastest, most convenient way to charge a Tesla at home. But the charger itself is only part of the job — the real work is making sure your home's electrical system can deliver that power safely, every night, for years. Here's what a professional installation looks like.

1. A load calculation comes first

Before anything gets mounted, we look at your electrical panel and calculate how much capacity your home actually has available. Many San Diego homes have 100A or 125A service, and adding a 48A charging circuit on top of air conditioning, a dryer and a range can push things too far.

The good news: a full panel upgrade isn't always needed. The Wall Connector can be configured for lower amperage, and load-management devices can share capacity intelligently.

2. Choosing the right location

We'll help you pick a spot that reaches your charge port comfortably, keeps the cable off the floor and keeps the wire run from the panel as short and clean as possible. Outdoor installs are fine too — the Wall Connector is rated for outdoor use.

3. Dedicated circuit, permit and installation

  • Dedicated 240V circuit with correctly sized wire and breaker
  • Conduit run neatly along walls or through the attic
  • Electrical permit pulled with the City or County of San Diego
  • Mounting and commissioning using the Tesla One app, including Wi-Fi setup

What affects the cost?

Every home is different, which is why we give free, upfront estimates. The biggest factors are:

  • Distance from your panel to the charger location
  • Whether your panel has the capacity (or needs an upgrade or load management)
  • Indoor vs. outdoor installation and wall / ceiling construction
  • Detached garages or trenching requirements
Tip: Ask about the Stacks Power Plan — members get discounted installs and an annual EV charger check to keep everything running at full speed.
